Canterbury Day Nursery
We were founded originally in 1974 by members of the local Gingerbread group for the children of one parent families, it now welcomes all families. A voluntary committee of parents from all sections and other interested people manages the organisation.
Open every weekday throughout the year 8am-6pm, except for Bank Holidays and Christmas closure.
The Management and Staff. As a charity the organisation has a voluntary management committee.
The committee are the trustees of the Organisation, the people entrusted with the overall responsibility for ensuring that all runs smoothly to the aim.
The majority of staff hold appropriate qualifications, which are updated on a regular basis. These are checked on appointment and reviewed at Ofsted Registration.
Toys and Equipment. The equipment we provide is appropriate for the ages and stages of the children and offers challenges to developing physical, social, personal, and intellectual skills. This includes positive images of people, both male and female, from different races and cultures, with and without disabilities.
Safe Guarding Children. Our intention is to create an environment in which children are safe from abuse and in which any suspicion of abuse is promptly and appropriately responded to. To achieve this we follow all Ofsted guidelines, which include ‘disclosure’ checks and references which are followed up, staff are initially employed on a probationary period until these checks are verified.
We want all children from all backgrounds to feel cherished and secure. This will enable a solid foundation that will allow them to develop and learn confidently. We promote British Values- a simple guide to making all of our families feel included and valued is explained on the link below.
